Corporal Ernest Gray of the 9th Gloucestershire Regiment killed in Salonica on the 5th of November 1916.

Corporal Gray of Ivy Cottage Waterloo Street was killed in action leaving the widow he had married on August 7th 1915

Private James William Tovey of the 3rd Grenadier Guards killed in France on the 27th November 1917, aged 19

Son of Richard and Kate Tovey of 9 Waterloo Street. Two of his brothers also served one in the army and one in the Navy.

He was serving with his unit during the Battle of Cambrai on the 27th November they made an unsuccessful attack on the village of Fontaine Notre Dame and it was during this attack he was killed.

Private George Thomas Skeen of the 7th Queen's Own(Royal West Kent Regiment) killed in France on the 24th September 1918, aged 19

One of five Skeen brothers of Waterloo street who served their country.

He lost his life in September 1918 when his battalion was involved in the battles to break the Hindenburg Line.

Private William Parker of the 7th Gloucestershire Regiment was killed at Gallipoli on the 26th July 1915.

Private Parker of 48 Waterloo Street was born in Tewkesbury. He went to Gallipoli with his battalion in July 1915, going ashore at the Helles pennisula. He was shot through the head and killed within a few days of landing.

Private John Thomas Skeen of the 1st/5th Lancashire Fusiliers died in Egypt on the 24th May 1916, aged 18.

One of 3 brothers who lost their lives in the Great War.

He had been reported missing for 5 days and was found dead of heatstroke in the desert

Able Seaman Arthur Joseph Welch Royal Naval Division -25th March 1918, aged 31. 

He was the third son of Mr W Welch of 4 Waterloo Place and had 3 brothers also serving.

He was serving as infantry in the Somme and a victim of mustard gas shelling, he was evacuated to Rouen but later died. He left a widow and 2 children in Gloucester

Private Arthur James Skeen of the 2nd and 4th Hampshire Regiment killed in France on the 25th July 1918, aged 26.

Son of Edwin and Emily Skeen of 13 Waterloo St. They had 5 sons Arthur, John and George died in the war.

Arthur died during the Battle of the Marne whilst fighting for the Ardres Valley.

Private Albert Tanner of the 2nd Prince of Wales Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians) killed in Belgium on the 24th of June 1916 aged 27.

Private Tanner, of 38 Waterloo street, went to France in 1914 and survived early campaigns.

His battalion was in the line at Wytschaete between the 20th and 27th of June and it is likely Private Tanner died during this time. He left a widow Kate.

Private Henry Townley of the 8th Gloucestershire Regiment died in France on the 28th March 1918.

Private Townley of 18 Waterloo Street enlisted in 1914

He was deployed in France at the time of the 1918 German spring offensive and the only information we have is that he died. At this battle in the Somme sector the deaths of many men went unrecorded.
