Tragically all three brothers died within four months of each other in 1916.

Charles Iles, who had married Annie Faulkner, was injured in the war and lost his arm. He returned to Cheltenham and they lived at 308 Swindon Road from 1918 to 1960 and had 15 children.

Charles was a regular at the pubs o Tewkesbury Road and was known locally as Hooky Iles.
